  Commentary

  • Here is Karthik Lakshmanan's match report:

  • Mumbai crush Kolkata to set up final date with Pune

Karn Bumrah keep Knight Riders to 107 all out and Krunal steers chase with unbeaten 45

  • So that's all from here. See you on Sunday for the final. It is Mumbai Indians vs Rising Pune Supergiant at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. Till then, goodbye!

  • Karn Sharma (MoM): I have been well and I am very happy for that. I try to take wickets, try to bowl slow. It was an important game for the team. The attempt was to take wickets and get them all out quickly. It is a good thing that I am taking wickets and helping my team win.

  • Rohit Sharma: I guess we have been really working hard and we don't want to shy away from going into the final the hard way. We really played some good cricket throughout the tournament and today was the perfect example. When you have performances like those, it gives you the confidence. The way bowlers came out and bowled, that was really pleasing, taking wickets at regular intervals and keeping the scoreboard in contorl. Karn Sharma really bowled well and set the game up for us. I think we are not dependent on one individual, every individual has come, put his hand up and won the games for us. Good to see that when every individual takes up the repsonsiblity. (On giving Bumrah the new ball): It is something we have been talking about, Bumrah is a wicket taking bowler, and we know Kolkata has a top heavy batting. When it doesn't work, it looks very bad. It is a teamwork, so it's not about me. I go and execute the plan and sometimes I go with my instincts as well. Sometimes it is very easy if you keep bowling the same bowler, so it is necesasry to keep changing and keep the batsmen guessing. Pune have bene playing some real good cricket. Not great history against them but we need to focus on what we need to do. It is very important for us to access the conditions quickly and move forwards. We have been doing well so far as a team, just one more hurdle.

  • Gautam Gambhir: We discussed after the last game. The wicket was a 140 one but once we were 5 wickets down for 30 odd, it is very difficult to come back. But 107 is not enough a total to get the opposition all out. Had it been 140, we would have been pretty much in the game. They are the quality side and when you lose early wickets, it is very difficult to recover. We couldn't put pressure on the Mumbai bowlers as we kept losing wickets at regular interval. Pretty proud of everyone because we put everything we could but Mumbai were a far better side. If you look back, we had the opportunity to finish in the top two but if you miss that it's gonna come back and bite you. We had the opportunity twice but we messed that up. But pretty proud of the boys. They have been very professional. Wish all the best to Mumbai and Pune for the finals.

  • Player of the match - Karn Sharma

  • An easy victory there for Mumbai. Although Kolkata struck with some early wickets and at one stage Mumbai were 34 for 3. But Rohit (26 off 24) and Krunal batted sensibly. Rohit got out for but Pandya (45 off 30) ensured he stays till the end and sees him team through.

  Full commentary

  • Another low score on this Bangalore wicket. Mumbai came out with their plans and executed them perfectly. For once, Kolkata's top order collapsed as they were reeling at 31 for 5. Jaggi (28 off 31) and Suryakumar Yadav (31 off 25) stabilised the innings and put together a partnership of 56 runs in 47 balls. Once that partnership was broken, Kolkata didn't last long and were bundled out for 107. Mumbai bowlers were all among the wickets - Johnson took 2, Bumrah 3 but the chief destroyer was Karn Sharma with the figures of 4 for 16 from his spell. Ideally, shouldn't be a difficult score to chase, but this Bangalore wicket this season has been a little tricky. We will back soon to find out.

  • Gautam Gambhir: Looks a little dry wicket. We were looking to chase, but w cannot do anything about the toss. We will have to set total and defend it. It was the bowlers who set the game for us last time and hopefully, tonight batters will set the game for the bowlers. Two changes for us. Ankit Rajpoot comes in for Yusuf Pathan and Colin de Grandhomme for Trent Boult.

  • Rohit Sharma: We will field first. It looks a good wicket but I think it's going to play on the slow side. This has been the case throughout this season. A few things we have kept in mind, weather and all, so we thought we better bowl first. We have to put everything we have. After last game, we spoke about the things that need to be corrected. Hope we put the right foot forward tonight. Mitchell McClenaghan is injured, Johnson comes in.

  • Mumbai Indians Won the Toss & Elected to Field

  • Before the toss comes up, here is what Stephen Fleming has to say about DLS method for T20 games:

  • Fleming wants wicket pressure in rain affected T20s

Rising Pune Supergiant coach says DLS almost always favours chasing teams when they have all ten wickets in hand in shortened matches

  • Just to update you all, it rained heavily in Bangalore last night. Although, it is not raining currently, but you cannot say anything about Bangalore weather.

  • Hello and welcome to the Qualifier 2 of IPL 2017. It is Mumbai Indians against Kolkata Knight Riders at M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. The winner today will play against Pune in the final on Sunday. I hope it doesn't rain tonight and we get a full game. Meanwhile, here is the match preview:

  • IPL 10 Qualifier 2 Kolkata v Mumbai

Both teams grapple with batting concerns as place in final against Pune beckons

  Full commentary
