Time for Ashwin to brush dirt off his shoulder like Kumble
The former India legspinner reinvented himself during the course of his career, and the current India offspinner ought to take a leaf out his playbook
A wrist spinner, Karn Sharma made headlines when he helped Sunrisers Hyderabad make it to the Champions League qualifiers in their inaugural year in 2013. The franchise rewarded him when they bought him for Rs 3.75 crore in the 2014 auction, making him the most expensive domestic cricketer. Since then, his attacking instincts as a legspinner have kept him in the news and the rise has been steady. He earned his maiden Test cap against Australia in Adelaide in December 2014, and though he had modest returns in what remains his only Test, he has shown through his outing in the IPL, a handful of ODIs and for Railways in the Ranji Trophy that he could be a strong contender for more international caps in the future.
