PROFILE

Naman Ojha belongs to the new breed of wicketkeepers who have followed the path set by Adam Gilchrist, with his batting being an equal asset as his keeping. He hasn’t managed to graduate to the international level yet, failing in the only opportunity he got in a one day international against Sri Lanka in 2010. Ojha may have failed then, but his opportunity was well earned. He has scored over 5000 runs for Madhya Pradesh, including an unbeaten 214. Having made his debut for the state in 2000-01, he found success in the limited-over format as well, with a 96 for India Green in the Challenger Trophy in 2008-09 particularly good. During his time at Rajasthan Royals, Shane Warne, his captain at the time, claimed he was one of the top-five keepers in India. His aggressive batting at the top of the order also came in handy for Rajasthan. He was picked up by the Delhi Daredviles for $US270,000 in the 2011 auctions.
